The service sector is the dominant sector of the UK economy, and contributes around 73% of GDP. The UK's exports of financial and business services make a significant positive contribution towards the country's balance of payments, while their creative industries are the largest in Europe. Construction has, however, become the fastest growing sector of the economy following the 2010 Recession.
Agriculture is intensive, highly mechanised, and efficient by European standards, producing about 60% of food needs. The UK’s main manufacturing industries include: automotive, aerospace, defence and pharmaceutical industries.
