  • John Legat

    John Legat Chief Executive Imara Asset Management Zimbabwe John Legat heads up the Asset Management operations of the Imara Group. He is based in Zimbabwe where he is also the chief executive of Imara Asset Management Zimbabwe which he established in 1998. This business is currently one of the leading pension fund and private client asset managers in Zimbabwe. John has extensive global experience gained from his thirteen years at GT Asset Management (UK) Ltd where he specialised in European equities before joining the Global Emerging Markets team at GT in 1990. In 1995 he launched and managed the GT Africa Fund, one of the first mutual funds of its kind. He is the manager of the Imara African Opportunities Fund and the Imara Africa Series.

  • Jonathan Chew

    Jonathan Chew Director Chief Investment Officer Africa Jonathan obtained his BSc through Loughborough University. He started his career as an investment analyst covering the Asian emerging markets in 1979. He was CIO of Global Emerging Markets at GT Management (later LGT Asset Management) in Hong Kong between 1989 and 1997 before leaving to manage what is now the Imara Global Fund. Currently, he is the co-lead manager of the Imara African Opportunities Fund and manages the Imara Nigeria Fund.

  • Chris Botha

    Chris Botha Chief Executive Officer | Imara Asset Management South Africa Chris has worked on both the buy and sell side of the investment industry, working as an analyst, stockbroker and portfolio manager at many of the well-known investment and life companies. His first position was at First National Trust (FNT) where he worked with Dave Eliot, our CEO from 1990 to 1993. He has gained experience in managing unit trusts, pension funds and private client portfolios at FNT, Kagiso Securities, Tlotlisa Securities, SG Securities, Fedsure Asset Management, and African Life Asset Management. Whilst employed at Afrifocus Stockbrokers he worked closely with Imara Asset Management before joining them.

  • Rajeev Sookur

    Rajeev Sookur Rajeev Sookur, a Chartered Certified Accountant with 20 years of exposure in the field of auditing, finance and accounting. He has worked for various investigatory, regulatory and law enforcement agencies in Mauritius such as the National Audit Office, Ministry of Finance, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Financial Services Commission and the Judicial Department. He also worked as Risk and Compliance Manager for a corporate service provider in Mauritius prior to joining Imara. Presently Rajeev is the Head of Administration of Imara Asset Management Limited, a Director of Imara Asset Management (Mauritius) Limited and Imara Trust (Mauritius) Limited and the Company Secretary for the Imara Mutual Funds. He also served as Director on the Board of Transparency International (Mauritius) Branch and on the board of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP Mauritius) . He holds a Diploma in Management and Marketing from the Institute of Commercial Management and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Rajeev is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) and a forensic accountant.

  • Simba Chopera

    Simba Chopera Chief Operating Officer Imara Asset Management Africa Simba has seventeen years experience in Finance and Investment banking having trained with Deloittes and worked for several listed companies in Zimbabwe and regional financial institutions at senior and executive level. Prior to this appointment he was the CEO of MBCA Capital Management.

  • Nathan de Assis

    Patrick German Imara ECR Asset Management Limited Nathan De Assis is the Executive Director for Imara ECR Asset Management Limited with over 25 years professional experience in the financial and development sector in Zambia. He is one of the founders of Equity Capital Resources Plc, the joint venture partner in Imara ECR Asset Management Limited in Zambia.
